Torfinnur Jákupsson is a Faroese screenwriter, showrunner and executive producer with a diverse background in journalism, film, television and music. Represented by the Faroese Authors Association, the Danish Writers Guild, the Writers Guild of Great Britain and Swedish boutique agency Albatros, Torfinnur is the creator, head writer and executive producer of the first ever series set in the Faroes, award-winning eco-crime drama TROM, available on Viaplay, DR, ZDF/Arte, BBC, AMC+ and SBS among others.
He is also founder and CEO of GRÓ Studios, the first film and television studio of its kind in the Faroes, involved in all aspects of development through production and distribution. Working closely with the Nordic and international industry, GRÓ focuses on local talent and local stories with a strong sense of genre and setting, written and produced for a global audience. With a publishing and post-production department, GRÓ also specializes in IP rights, original composition, music production and supervision. Following the international success of TROM, GRÓ has developed a fast-growing slate of high-end series in addition to feature films and documentaries.
After a decade of studying and working in London, Torfinnur decided to change industry from the world of news and finance to film and TV. Over the past years, he has refined his skills in a wide range of roles - spanning feature films, shorts, documentaries and TV series. His projects have won numerous international awards and nominations.
